Carlo Ancelotti has brought two successive positive updates for Barcelona by announcing the Brazil national team call-up list, which includes the return of Vitor Roque and permission for Raphinha to stay at the club to continue his injury recovery.
The Italian coach currently managing Brazil revealed the squad for two upcoming friendlies against Senegal and Tunisia. The biggest surprise is the inclusion of young forward Vitor Roque, who previously played for Barcelona and is currently shining at Palmeiras. The 20-year-old has scored 17 goals and provided 5 assists since joining the Brazilian club in February. Over the past two months, his form has been even more impressive, helping Palmeiras reach the Copa Libertadores final.
Ancelotti admitted he was deeply impressed by Vitor Roque’s development: “He is in fantastic form and I want to see him play up close.” This call-up decision marks a turning point for the young player’s career and is also great news for Barcelona — who still hold 20% of the resale value clause for Roque.
According to Sports Illustrated, Manchester United is ready to pay around 50 million Euros to sign Vitor Roque. If the transfer goes through, Barcelona will receive about 10 million Euros as reinvestment income.
This is a significant revenue that helps the club’s management ease financial pressure amid the need to balance the transfer budget. More importantly, if Vitor Roque continues to excel with the Brazil national team, his market value could rise sharply, bringing additional benefits to Barcelona from this clause.
Additionally, the second piece of good news for Hansi Flick — Barcelona’s head coach — is that Raphinha was not included in the call-up list. The Brazilian winger is currently recovering from a muscle injury and is not ready to play. Although Ancelotti wanted to call him up, he respected the player’s physical condition and decided to let him stay in Spain for treatment.
“I don’t want to take risks with Raphinha’s health. It’s best for him to continue recovering at the club,” Ancelotti shared. This decision helps Barcelona avoid the risk of Raphinha’s injury relapsing and allows Flick to prepare confidently for the demanding period ahead in La Liga and the Champions League.
Thus, within a single call-up list, Ancelotti has inadvertently brought two pieces of good news to Barcelona: potential income from the Vitor Roque deal and timely physical “rescue” for Raphinha. For Flick and President Joan Laporta, these are positive signals as the club seeks stability both financially and in personnel for the rest of the season.
