Press conference announcing the 2025 Vietnamese Golden Ball Award: A journey connecting glory.
On the morning of November 6, at the Saigon Liberation Newspaper headquarters, the Organizing Committee of the Vietnamese Golden Ball Award held a press conference to launch the 2025 voting season – marking the 30th anniversary of this prestigious award honoring the best football players in Vietnam.
Representing the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) at the press conference, Vice President Trần Anh Tú congratulated the award on reaching its 30th year, while also reviewing memorable milestones of Vietnamese football in 2025. VFF Vice President Trần Anh Tú recalled the moment Nguyễn Hai Long scored against Thailand, helping Vietnam win the ASEAN Cup for the first time on foreign soil, and the achievement of the U23 Vietnam team winning at Bung Karno (Indonesia) – a testament to the youth generation’s development.
VFF Vice President Trần Anh Tú emphasized: “Up to now, five Vietnamese national teams have qualified for the Asian finals – a rare achievement in the region. Domestically, the 2025–2026 V-League is thrilling and fiercely competitive, providing a solid basis to accurately assess individual performances.”
The overall picture of Vietnamese football in 2025 is seen as a vibrant canvas with many professional highlights. In men’s football, after winning the Southeast Asian championship for the third time, coach Kim Sang-sik’s team continues to maintain impressive form in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The U23 Vietnam team successfully defended their Southeast Asian U23 title and secured a spot in the 2026 U23 Asian Cup, aiming for gold at the 33rd SEA Games.
Women’s football continues to assert its top position in the region with a ticket to the 2026 Asian Championship and the goal of winning a sixth consecutive SEA Games gold medal. Vietnamese futsal, both men’s and women’s teams, are aiming for a spot at the 2026 Futsal World Cup. The comprehensive development of the domestic professional league system—from the V-League to the First Division and National Cup—enriches the pool of nominees, promising an exciting and competitive voting season.
The categories for the 2025 Vietnamese Golden Ball Award include: Men’s and Women’s Golden, Silver, and Bronze Balls; Futsal; Best Young Male and Female Players; Best Foreign Player; Most Popular Player; and the Contribution Award.
