Six dominant Premier League teams compete in the Champions League; after 4 rounds, they hold 4 of the top 8 spots and all rank within the top 12.

The Champions League no longer includes a group stage. Starting last season, the new system consists of an 8-match league phase; the top eight teams qualify directly for the round of 16, teams ranked 9th to 24th compete in a two-legged playoff for the other eight round of 16 places, and those ranked 25th to 36th are eliminated, with no relegation to the Europa League.

The Premier League is now truly the top league, with six teams participating in the Champions League this season and showing strong performances. After four rounds, half of the top eight spots belong to Premier League clubs (4 teams), and all six rank within the top twelve.

Premier League teams’ rankings after 4 rounds of the Champions League:

  • Arsenal: 2nd place, boasting four straight wins with 12 points, scoring 11 goals and conceding none.
  • Manchester City: 4th place, unbeaten with 3 wins and 1 draw, totaling 10 points.
  • Newcastle: 6th place, with 3 wins and 1 loss, accumulating 9 points.
  • Liverpool: 8th place, also with 3 wins and 1 loss, earning 9 points.
  • Tottenham: 10th place, undefeated with 2 wins and 2 draws, gathering 8 points.
  • Chelsea: 12th place, with 2 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss, totaling 7 points.

Given the current strength of Premier League teams, all six clubs competing in the Champions League are expected to advance together to the round of 16. Do you believe such a Premier League-dominated Champions League era will unfold? Let’s wait and see!
