Following Facundo Garces, Argentine press recently revealed additional proof showing that Imanol Machuca deceived about his Malaysian heritage.
After uncovering the true background of Facundo Garces, the Capital de Noticias (Argentina) has now published more details regarding the naturalization records of Imanol Machuca, another Malaysian naturalized player sanctioned by FIFA. According to the Argentine media, all information suggests that Imanol Machuca and FAM fabricated his Malaysian origins.
“Similar to the case of Facundo Garces’ grandfather, FAM claimed that Imanol Machuca’s grandmother was born in Penang (Malaysia). However, once again, we have obtained exclusive documents proving that her origins are not from Malaysia but several thousand kilometers away. According to the birth certificate of Concepcion Agueda Alaniz — Imanol Machuca’s grandmother — she was born in the town of Roldan (Argentina). This record is officially registered by the Civil Registry of Santa Fe province, with clear evidence,” Capital de Noticias reported.
The Argentine newspaper clarified further: “The official in charge of the notary office certified in an official document that in Roldan, San Lorenzo, Santa Fe province, on August 23, 1954, at 10 a.m., Celestino Alaniz, 22 years old (Argentine nationality), got married. That same month, a white baby girl was born, legally recognized as the daughter of Celestino Alaniz and his wife Nelida Agustina Ordonez (Argentine). He declared that the baby’s name was Concepcion Agueda.”
“The unusual part is that Imanol Machuca himself lied by claiming in a media interview that his connection to Malaysia came through his grandmother Concepcion Agueda. However, it is possible that the grandmother married a Malaysian man, which might explain the confusion.
But unfortunately for Imanol Machuca, his grandparents’ marriage certificate further proves his falsehood. Concepcion Agueda married Jorge Luis Saracho, a worker also born in Roldan, from the town of San Jeronimo Sur (Argentina). Therefore, we can conclude everything is fabricated, with no documents linking Imanol Machuca to Malaysia,” theCapital de Noticias concluded that Machuca lied.
The player, born in 1999, played only 17 minutes in Malaysia’s 4-0 victory over Vietnam on June 10. After the scandal broke, Machuca was banned for 12 months and fined, while FAM is also facing an international investigation regarding the legitimacy of the naturalization documents.
Argentine media stated that this case could trigger “a series of serious consequences,” including Malaysia facing sanctions from FIFA if found guilty of fraud during player registration.
