Barcelona ended in a frustrating 3-3 draw with Club Brugge in the Champions League. Post-match, Coach Hansi Flick condemned the defensive lapses and called for the team to enhance their pressing effort.
In the early hours of November 6 (Vietnam time), Barcelona played a dramatic 3-3 draw away at Club Brugge in the fourth matchday of the group stage of the 2025/26 Champions League. Although they secured a point thanks to goals from Ferran Torres, Lamine Yamal, and an own goal, Coach Hansi Flick remained dissatisfied as the team conceded three goals again.
Speaking after the game, the German tactician was straightforward: “This was not an easy match. We created many chances, but Club Brugge defended very solidly and played with great determination. We failed to press effectively, lost too many duels, especially in midfield. Losing control in midfield put heavy pressure on our defense. We need to improve and analyze carefully. The key is to increase our intensity without the ball. We must be more alert to the opponent’s one- or two-touch combinations.”
Flick also stated that Barca’s problem is not with their playing philosophy but with execution: “We don’t need to change our style because this is Barca. But without intensity, we cannot create chances. Club Brugge counter-attacks very quickly, and we have to respect that. A 3-3 draw is not a good result, but at least the team showed effort to come back.”
He also delivered a strong message to his players: “Every player needs to play in the right position and press at the right moment. We did very well against Elche, but not today. There is no excuse because the squad is the same. This is not Barca’s best phase, but we can perform at a higher level.”
With this draw, Barcelona extended their streak to nine consecutive Champions League matches conceding goals, continuing to face significant pressure in the race to advance.
Currently, Hansi Flick’s squad sits 11th in the overall standings with 7 points from 4 matches, 5 points behind the leading group.
