Gamba Osaka starting lineup:
Nam Định has yet to secure their first win under new coach Nguyễn Trung Kiên after two consecutive draws against Da Nang and HAGL. Drawing against two weaker opponents shows that Nam Định has not yet overcome their difficult phase. The coaching change is mostly symbolic since coach Vũ Hồng Việt remains as Technical Director and still influences tactics.
Compared to the last two V-League matches where they faced squad difficulties, Nam Định will be able to use all their foreign players in the AFC Champions League Two. However, the team’s coherence and connection when playing with many foreign players remain lacking, resulting in unimpressive performances in the AFC Cup 2.
Although playing at home, it’s worth remembering that a recent heavy 1-3 defeat to Gamba Osaka led to coach Vũ Hồng Việt’s dismissal. The Japanese club uses very few foreign players but demonstrates well-organized, cohesive attacking and solid defensive play.
Currently, Nam Định is second in Group F with 6 points, three points ahead of Ratchaburi. To maintain their second place and secure qualification, Thành Nam’s team aims to at least draw against Gamba Osaka before focusing on the remaining group matches.
