Jude Bellingham has confirmed his wish to come back to the England team, yet the upcoming selection is fully at the discretion of manager Thomas Tuchel after he regained his performance level at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham recently spoke candidly about his future with the England national team after being left out of the last two call-ups by coach Thomas Tuchel.
The 22-year-old was a key figure in the first three England camps under Tuchel. However, Bellingham missed the September World Cup qualifiers due to shoulder surgery. Upon full recovery, many expected him to return for the October matches against Wales and Latvia, but Tuchel surprisingly did not include him, a decision that raised questions among experts and fans alike.
Currently, Bellingham is fully fit and a cornerstone of Real Madrid’s lineup. He has played 10 matches across all competitions this season, including a full 90 minutes in the recent 0-1 Champions League loss to Liverpool. Despite maintaining consistent form, Bellingham has yet to showcase himself to the England coaching staff as Tuchel and assistant Anthony Barry did not attend that match in person.
In a post-match interview, when asked about the possibility of returning to the England squad for the upcoming camp, Bellingham tactfully replied: “That’s not my decision. You all know who has the final say.”
When pressed further about his desire to come back, he smiled and said: “Of course, I always want to wear the England shirt. But as I said, it’s not up to me. Let’s wait and see.”
Since his England debut, Bellingham has earned 44 caps, scored 6 goals, and is regarded as one of the new generation leaders of the “Three Lions.” Since joining Real Madrid in 2023, he has scored 41 goals and provided 29 assists in 110 appearances, helping the Spanish giants win La Liga and the Champions League.
With the 2026 World Cup approaching, Bellingham certainly doesn’t want to miss out. However, to achieve that, he must keep up his performance and, more importantly, convince coach Tuchel that he deserves to return.
