Even though they comfortably won against Nam Định on their home ground, Gamba Osaka's coach continues to value the Vietnamese side highly when playing on the road.
This afternoon (November 4), the pre-match press conference for the AFC Champions League 2 game between Nam Định and Gamba Osaka (Japan) took place at Thiên Trường Stadium.
From the visiting team, Gamba Osaka's coach Daniel Poyatos spoke highly of Nam Định “We are aware that we will face a very experienced team. In the first leg, although we won, Nam Định showed dangerous moments when they had possession. Gamba Osaka has a strong tradition, and we always aim to win every match.”
Gamba Osaka player Kanji Okunuki stated that the whole team is ready: “This is an important match, and I will give 100% effort. The weather and conditions in Vietnam are different, but we are adapting well and will strive to perform at our best.”
In the first leg, Nam Định lost 1-3 to Gamba Osaka away. However, coach Andre Lima affirmed that the team has learned many lessons and made necessary adjustments to aim for a better performance in the return match.
Speaking at the press conference, Nam Định’s coach Andre Lima said it will be a challenging match as their Japanese opponent is a strong team and a top contender to advance from the group. Nonetheless, Nam Định has prepared thoroughly throughout the week and is ready to deliver their best performance.
“We know Gamba Osaka is a strong side, but Nam Định has trained hard and enthusiastically, and we will try our best to have a good game. Although we have faced difficulties recently due to injuries and illness, in the AFC Champions League, we can use more foreign players. I believe the team will have a stable squad and will leverage home advantage to aim for a positive result,” shared coach Andre Lima.
The match between Nam Định and Gamba Osaka will take place at 19:15 on November 5 at Thiên Trường Stadium.
