Cristiano Ronaldo revealed the most costly thing he has ever acquired during a new interview with Piers Morgan.
Three years after the shocking interview that led to his departure from Man Utd in November 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo once again sat down for a conversation with British journalist Piers Morgan.
Clips released before the interview hinted that the Portuguese striker would touch on several major topics, most notably the rivalry with Lionel Messi.
At the start of the conversation, Ronaldo spoke about the vast fortune he has accumulated throughout his career, along with his ambition to become “the only billionaire in football.” While sharing this, the Portuguese superstar also revealed the most expensive item he has ever purchased.
When Morgan asked if it was true that he became a billionaire last year and whether that was a pre-set goal, Ronaldo smiled and replied: “No, that’s not correct. I’ve been a billionaire for many years!”
CR7 added: “I know how much money I have, not the exact figures, but I’m aware of the majority. Like when I won the Ballon d’Or, that was a goal I always aimed for. Becoming a billionaire is also among my biggest ambitions.
I’m the only billionaire in the football world. Numbers don’t lie. You can call me arrogant if you want, but the truth remains the truth. It’s no surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo consistently tops all rankings.”
When asked what the most expensive item he has ever bought is, Ronaldo answered: “The priciest? A private jet, a Global Express. I’ve owned a private jet for 13 years, and I upgraded to a new one about a year ago, so it wasn’t cheap.”
The 40-year-old player also shared that when he was younger, he loved luxury cars and spending on flashy things, but now money is not as important. However, the plane is the only exception, because he is “not an ordinary person,” and for security reasons, he cannot appear at airports like everyone else.
Ronaldo’s comments about his vast fortune come shortly after the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the ranking of the world’s wealthiest billionaires, included his name for the first time.
According to the report, which includes career earnings, investments, and endorsement deals, Ronaldo’s total net worth is currently estimated at $1.4 billion (equivalent to £1.04 billion). Of this, he earned more than $550 million (£410 million) in wages while playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League from 2022 to 2023, with the remainder coming from sponsorships and brand promotions.
