Cristiano Ronaldo attracted attention by stating that Manchester United still lacks a clear structure, suggesting that coach Ruben Amorim cannot perform miracles to help the team compete for the Premier League title.
In his latest interview with Piers Morgan, aired on his personal YouTube channel and Talk TV, Cristiano Ronaldo openly expressed his disappointment about Manchester United’s current situation. According to the Portuguese superstar, the Red Devils still do not have a solid foundation for the future, despite once being a symbol of world football.
Ronaldo said: "For me, it’s painful to see the club in its current state because Manchester United has always been close to my heart. Manchester United is one of the most important clubs globally, but right now they lack a clear structure. I hope that changes because the club’s potential is huge."
The former Real Madrid and Juventus striker believes coach Ruben Amorim is doing his best but cannot single-handedly reverse the situation: "He is trying his hardest. In Portugal, we say 'miracles only happen in Fatima,' and Amorim can’t perform miracles. They have talented players but many don’t fully understand what it means to wear the Manchester United jersey."
When asked about their chances to compete for the Premier League title this season, Ronaldo responded frankly: "It’s impossible. Arsenal has left them far behind." He believes the problem at Man Utd goes beyond the pitch and extends to management. Ronaldo claims that the leadership, from Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group to the Glazer family, has not taken strong enough action to restore the club’s former status.
"Manchester United remains in my heart, but we have to be honest. The club is heading in the wrong direction, and this is not just about the coach or players," Ronaldo emphasized.
This statement recalls his 2022 interview that led to his departure from Old Trafford, when Ronaldo criticized coach Erik ten Hag and said the club had stagnated since Sir Alex Ferguson left.
Although Manchester United recently went on a 4-match unbeaten streak and climbed into the Premier League’s top group, Ronaldo’s view still reflects reality: the Red Devils are far from the title race. Will CR7’s warnings prompt Man Utd’s leadership to make changes and reclaim their past glory?
