Gareth Bale and Thierry Henry showed disappointment with Real Madrid’s performance in their Champions League loss to Liverpool early today.
Gareth Bale gave his analysis of the Liverpool vs Real Madrid game for CBS. The former Welsh international, sitting alongside Thierry Henry, criticized Real Madrid’s attacking tactics: "I believe it’s the lack of creativity that Henry and I have mentioned, since we didn’t witness Mbappé and Vinicius producing any magical plays in the final third to bring Real back into the match. It’s a shame because in that critical area, the quality wasn’t what you would expect from Real Madrid players."
Vinicius and Mbappe failed to score in the match where Real Madrid lost 0-1 to Liverpool. Neither player managed a shot on target against Liverpool.
Gareth Bale highlighted a key deficiency in Real Madrid’s attack, which is the absence of a genuine striker inside the penalty area: "It’s frustrating, I think Real Madrid make things too complicated. Sometimes they just need to challenge the defenders. Clearly, Real Madrid has players faster than anyone else on the pitch. But maybe they don’t do it because there’s no one in the box waiting for crosses. Perhaps they need a number 9 to serve as a reference point."
