Despite hosting the match, Napoli secured just one point versus Frankfurt in the 4th round of the Champions League League Phase.
Napoli created the first dangerous chance early on. In the 6th minute, Rasmus Hojlund quickly received a rebound and shot straight at the goal, but was denied by goalkeeper Michael Zetterer. At the 13th minute, Eljif Elmas delivered a powerful strike from inside the penalty area, the ball heading towards goal, but Michael Zetterer successfully blocked it, maintaining a clean sheet.
Near the end of the first half, referee Joao Pinheiro had to issue a yellow card to caution coach Antonio Conte (Napoli) during stoppage time at 45+2 minutes. The first half ended goalless at 0-0.
Napoli’s attack underperformed
In the second half, both teams increased the pace to seek a goal. At the 50th minute, Napoli received a yellow card when Amir Rrahmani committed a foul on the opponent. At the 68th minute, Scott McTominay (Napoli) took a close-range shot, but the ball deflected off a defender and went out.
The clearest chance belonged to Eintracht Frankfurt at the 73rd minute, when Ansgar Knauff struck an excellent shot from within the 5.5-meter box towards the top of the net, but goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic made a brilliant save. Late in the match, although McTominay (83rd minute) had another chance inside the box, his shot soared over the crossbar.
The match ended without any goals scored, finishing at 0-0.
