Southeast Asian supporters send encouragement to Indonesia's young players following their 1-3 loss in the opening match of the U17 World Cup.
In the opening group stage match of the 2025 U17 World Cup, Indonesia's U17 team suffered a 1-3 defeat against Zambia. This result was somewhat expected due to the physical disparity between the two teams.
The loss puts Indonesia in a difficult position to qualify for the next round. However, they still received support from Southeast Asian fans:
"Disappointing, but this is the World Cup; not all Southeast Asian countries can participate," one fan shared.
"I think U17 Zambia is truly strong. At times, their speed was too much for U17 Indonesia to keep up with,"a fan from Vietnam commented.
"When scoring, players should have fallen back to defend instead of pushing too far forward. The attack was out of control."
"Playing in the U17 World Cup is an achievement that local Malaysian players will never reach, not even in the next 100 years," an Indonesian fan remarked after receiving many negative comments from Malaysian supporters.
"Indonesia is excellent! Only you have reached FIFA-level standards! I believe you can make it at least to the semifinals of this tournament! Congratulations, Indonesia,"another fan encouraged the young players from the archipelago.
"The match went smoothly, Indonesia played well, but the opponent was too strong. Don't compare Zambia to Vietnam; they are on a different level. It's okay to have expectations, but don't overdo it or blame too much. Stay calm when giving opinions."
In the second match on November 7, U17 Indonesia will face U17 Brazil.
