After making his debut in round 7 of the 2025/26 V-League, Vietnamese-British forward Lee Williams remains a starter under coach Lê Huỳnh Đức in the game against Công An Hà Nội.
In his debut match against Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh in round 7, Lee Williams demonstrated notable qualities of a striker trained in the English football system. Although he did not score, the 1.90m tall player impressed with his intelligent movement, strong dueling, and effective heading—skills that few domestic forwards in the V-League currently possess.
These positive signs have led coach Lê Huỳnh Đức to keep Williams in the starting lineup for the match against Công An Hà Nội, a much stronger opponent.
For an 18-year-old player who has just recently returned to Vietnam, being given the chance to start in two consecutive matches clearly shows the coaching staff at Công An TP.HCM’s confidence in his potential. Under the guidance of coach Lê Huỳnh Đức, known for his skill in developing forwards, Lee Williams has a great opportunity to grow and adapt quickly to the domestic football environment.
Before returning to Vietnam, Lee Williams played in England for Stockport County and was loaned to Warrington Town (6th tier). He made 16 appearances, scored 3 goals, and provided 1 assist, also gaining valuable experience playing in the English League Cup, a significant opportunity for the young Vietnamese-origin player.
Back in Vietnam, Williams signed with the Thể Công Viettel club but was loaned to Công An TP.HCM to gain more playing time. Coach Velizar Popov, who worked with him at Viettel, commented: “Williams has the potential to become a V-League star if given the right development opportunities.”
Currently, Lee Williams is in the process of completing his Vietnamese citizenship paperwork, opening the door for him to represent the national teams in the future. With his ideal physique, exceptional aerial ability, and technical skills honed in Europe, he promises to be a valuable asset for Vietnamese football.
Continuing to start in the V-League is not only a reward for Lee Williams’ efforts but also an important step in his journey to integrate and prove himself in his homeland. If he maintains his performance and professional attitude, this 1.90m tall player could easily become one of the most promising young talents in the V-League soon.
