Owen predicts the team that will win the Premier League 2025/26

Former renowned player Michael Owen acknowledged that he recently revised his forecast for the Premier League 2025/26 winner and revealed which clubs he believes will make it into the Top 4.

Arsenal currently lead the standings after 8 rounds in the 2025/26 season, aiming to secure their first championship trophy in 22 years. At present, Mikel Arteta’s squad holds a 3-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.

Michael Owen’s former club, Liverpool, the 2024/25 champions, sit third with the same points and goal difference as fourth-placed Bournemouth. They recently ended a streak of 4 consecutive losses across all competitions by thrashing Frankfurt in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Tottenham occupy fifth and sixth places, ahead of Sunderland and Crystal Palace, with Manchester United and Brighton rounding out the current Top 10.

In a recent interview, Michael Owen updated his prediction for the Premier League champion at the end of the season: “Before the season started, I predicted Liverpool would win the Premier League, but now I believe Arsenal will come out on top. They look strong and have maintained high consistency. However, Liverpool remain a very powerful team, and I think Manchester City are still Arsenal’s main rivals. This year, I don’t rate Manchester City very highly.

From my perspective, the four teams finishing highest in the Premier League at the end of the season (ranked from top down in the Top 4) will be Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea. Regarding relegation, I think Leeds, Burnley, and Wolves will drop. Nottingham Forest might avoid relegation thanks to a coaching change.”

Not long ago, the supercomputer Opta gave Arsenal an overwhelming 54.04% chance of winning the Premier League. Liverpool and Manchester City followed with similar odds of 17.21% and 17.05%, respectively. Thus, Arsenal’s probability of winning is more than three times that of Liverpool.

Teams Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth follow with winning chances ranging from just over 1% to under 2%. Manchester United ranks as low as 11th with a 0.34% chance of winning. Additionally, Opta’s supercomputer predicts West Ham (47.9%), Burnley (49.81%), and Wolves (69.09%) as the highest-risk teams for relegation. Meanwhile, Sunderland, Nottingham, and Leeds are expected to successfully stay up.
