In the end, Li Tie was sentenced to 20 years.
Li Tie, born on May 18, 1977, played as a midfielder when he was a player, was a former international player of the Chinese men's football team, and participated in the 2002 South Korea-Japan World Cup with the team. After Li Tie retired in 2009, he began to serve as a coach, and served as an assistant coach of Guangzhou Evergrande, and then he successively served as the coach of Hebei Huaxia Happiness and Wuhan Zall team. In January 2020, Li Tie officially served as the coach of the Chinese men's national football team and led the team to participate in the top 12. In December 2021, Li Tie resigned as the coach of the national football team because of his poor performance in leading the team.
On November 26, 2022, Li Tie was suspected of serious violations of the law and was subject to supervision and investigation. In August last year, Li Tie was prosecuted on suspicion of five crimes, including accepting bribes, offering bribes, offering bribes by units, offering bribes to non-state functionaries, and offering bribes to non-state functionaries.
