Sir Jim Ratcliffe personally intervened to stop Manchester United's rising star from leaving! Reportedly, he is undergoing extra training to fight for a starting spot and build muscle.

According to reports, Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe stepped in during the final phase of the summer transfer window to ensure that Coby Meno would not leave the club. The 20-year-old English midfielder did not start in the first three Premier League matches and was even unused in the first two games, feeling disappointed about his limited playing time under coach Ruben Amorim.

Meno only started once this season in the League Cup but performed poorly, and the team was surprisingly eliminated by League Two side Grimsby. As a result, Meno requested a loan move in the last week of the summer window to gain more playing opportunities.

British media revealed that Meno wanted to join Serie A defending champions Napoli, believing that under Antonio Conte’s management, he would get more game time and play alongside former Manchester United teammates like McTominay and Højlund, aiming to impress England national coach Tuchel and return to the "Three Lions" squad.

Meno clearly stated he had no intention of a permanent transfer; part of his loan request was to boost his chances of representing England at the 2026 World Cup next summer. However, Sir Jim rejected his application. The 72-year-old former richest man in England is known for his fondness for young players.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said: "Meno requested a loan; he never asked for a permanent transfer. A permanent move was never an option for Manchester United or for Meno. But he did want a loan, which was his preferred choice. Manchester United refused. The decision was made internally, with Sir Jim involved. They concluded Meno should not be sold. This decision was collectively made by the board, CEO, coach, and the club owner. Their stance is that Meno must not leave."

After announcing England’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, coach Tuchel clearly stated that Meno’s omission was solely due to lack of playing time. "Meno is on our candidate list," Tuchel explained, "but currently, the midfield positions 6, 8, and 10 are held by players in top form who play key roles at their clubs. For Meno, this is exactly the area he needs to work on next."

Meanwhile, during the international break, Meno posted videos of himself training extra hard with his personal coach Jonas Dodou, exciting his fans. He is using the off-season to improve his fitness in hopes of impressing Amorim. On Friday, he completed an hour of sprint drills at the training ground in Cheshire. It is said that Meno aims to increase his muscle mass to enhance his physical competitiveness.

This may be a wise move, but promoting it on social media is less appreciated by some Manchester United fans, who prefer players to keep a low profile rather than constantly showcasing hard training like Rashford does online.

Meno’s social media photos also sparked some controversy, including one where Miles Teller’s character from "Whiplash" is desperately pounding the drums with his fists. The controversy lies in the fact that the film depicts a character who can never satisfy his mentor or coach...

Manchester United teammates Lenny Yaro and Zirkzee showed support in the comments; Yaro used a GIF of Meno celebrating, while Zirkzee posted an image of Goku from "Dragon Ball" recovering energy inside special equipment. Chelsea’s Cole Palmer also responded, calling Meno "my brother," which was interpreted as a hint that he might join the Blues.
