Manchester United's dismissal of Amolin revealed, aiming for a return to the Champions League! Amolin intends to organize a mid-season training camp

British reports state that Manchester United’s head coach Rúben Amolin’s job is currently secure; however, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS management group has established a "make-or-break" condition for the coach this season.

Last season, Manchester United performed poorly, finishing 15th in the Premier League—the worst in club history—and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham, completely missing out on European football under Amolin’s leadership.

This season, Manchester United earned only 1 point in the first two Premier League matches, and after losing to League Two side Grimsby in the second round of the League Cup, Amolin has been under pressure. Rumors suggest that a defeat to Burnley could cost Amolin his job, but Bruno Fernandes’ stoppage-time penalty secured 3 points, making the points tally look less bleak.

Premier League transfer expert Dean Jones emphasizes that Manchester United’s owners plan to continue working with Amolin, and INEOS will not make a knee-jerk decision to change managers based on one or two poor results. Sir Jim’s goal is to win the first Premier League title since 2013 by 2028 or earlier, believing that changing the philosophy now poses a bigger risk than retaining Amolin.

However, Sir Jim will not tolerate poor results without limits. Jones stated: "Manchester United’s expectation is to return to the Champions League. If the team shows clear improvement, missing this target might be tolerable, but another failure to qualify for Europe could be fatal for Amolin’s tenure."

Former Manchester United chief scout Mike Brown has warned Amolin that his conduct on the sidelines also needs improvement. "We all know anything can happen in a penalty shootout, even against a League Two team like Grimsby. But I was extremely angry at the manager’s body language and behavior, especially during Burnley’s last penalty."

Brown explained: "Manchester United twice squandered a lead, earned a penalty in the final moments, taken by Bruno Fernandes, who faced immense pressure in front of 70,000 fans and millions watching on TV. The team had just lost a penalty shootout earlier in the week, and he had missed a penalty in the previous match. Yet the manager sat with his legs crossed on the sidelines, as if unaffected, sending what message to the players? It seemed like he was saying it’s not my problem, leaving all the pressure on the players. He didn’t even stand on the touchline to inspire confidence and support. I can’t believe it. I’m far more disappointed by this than by the elimination to Grimsby."

The British tabloid The Sun reported that since Manchester United exited the English League Cup in the second round, only the Premier League remains before January next year. The schedule shows only one midweek game before Christmas, on December 4th at home against West Ham United. Amolin believes the limited number of matches is unfavorable for building team chemistry and is therefore considering taking the squad abroad for a short training camp.

Especially after the three international breaks, there could be up to eight days between two league matches. Amolin worries that players might feel disconnected after returning from international duty, so he’s considering a training camp to strengthen team cohesion. Reportedly, he has shortlisted three destinations: Algarve in Portugal, La Manga in Spain, or Dubai in the UAE.

Although the club has not made a final decision, Amolin believes that changing the environment for the players instead of training daily at Carrington will help motivate the entire squad. He enjoyed the training in the USA this summer and considers it a key part of building a team genuinely eager to support each other. He has formed a six-player leadership group in the dressing room to encourage greater unity among players.

Manchester United’s senior management has already discussed this plan with Amolin and is likely to approve a mid-season training camp. However, Amolin’s proposal to arrange training sessions for non-international players during international breaks has been rejected, as the board considers most of these players are not regular starters, making such camps pointless and a waste of money.
