Manchester United wants to sign Amorim for 60 million and meet Mendes! Ten Hag's favour of the wings remains a target

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have met with Portugal's "super-agent" Jorge Mendes to discuss the possibility of signing Portuguese sporting winger Giovanni Kunda. The latter has recently been brought under the hands of Gestifute, a brokerage that belongs to Mendez, and it is rumored that the agency has also bought half of Kunda's portrait rights.

For now, Kunda's agent remains Igor Campedelli, but Mendes negotiates on his behalf. Manchester United, on the other hand, have been scouting Kunda since his Portuguese debut in August, and were interested in the 17-year-old Portuguese phenom long before Amorim took over.

Manchester United are still yet to make a formal offer for Kunda, but Sporting are expected to bring in the Portugal international next year. One of the options is to book in advance in January and officially join in next summer's transfer window. Manchester United are rumored to be willing to pay 60 million euros, and Kunda's liquidated damages are 100 million euros.

Manchester United have a long history of working with Mendes, dating back to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at the turn of the century. He was also David De Gea's agent and was instrumental in bringing in Bruno Fernandes in 2020. Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in 2021 with Mendes also involved, and before the Portuguese superstar made his debut, Manchester United executive vice-president Ed Woodward hugged Mendes. But Ronaldo and Mendes then broke down and ended their multi-year relationship. Manchester United's relationship with Mendes remains good, with him representing two new summer signings, Lenny Yoro and Ugarte.

Ligue 1 Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed interest in Kunda, and Grand Paris have also changed their transfer strategy, moving away from the pursuit of superstars and focusing on young players with potential. Manchester City, Liverpool and RB Leipzig are also eyeing Kunda, but United believe Amorim's management puts them in an advantageous position.

Mendes plans to hold more meetings with the club in the coming weeks to determine the best transfer for Kunda, who is expected to leave Sport next year. His contract runs until 2027, but as long as the price is right, Sport will not refuse to let him transfer, which is the operating model of the Portuguese club.

Born in Guinea-Bissau, Kunda has made just 20 appearances for Sporting de Portugal, but the Portuguese media have compared him to Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka. He can play as a right winger or as a right wing-back, a role he played in the Champions League group stage of the Champions League win over Manchester City, where he provided the assists.

However, Kunda is not United's only option in this position, with Ten Hag's favoured Dutch international Frimpong still on the shortlist. Bayer Leverkusen will play at right wing-back in the Bundesliga, and the statistics are better than that of the wingers. David Ornstein, an authoritative transfer expert at The Athletic, has revealed that if Kunda's price is too high, the Red Devils may opt for the more mature and stable Frimpong.

This season, the 23-year-old has one goal and three assists in 11 Bundesliga appearances, including one goal and seven assists in all competitions. According to the disclosure, Frimpong's liquidated damages of 40 million pounds are not particularly outrageous, and it can be said that there is a reasonable value for money.

However, United will still need to look to sell their existing highly-paid players if they are to bring in one of these two players. It is reported that sporting director Dan Ashworth is in contact with the Saudi Arabian professional league team, hoping to sell players such as Casemiro, Antony and Zirkze next year, "Fat Tiger" has a weekly salary of up to 350,000 pounds, and "Kompasu" is 200,000, and the two have a salary of more than 28 million pounds a year!
