Fulham Coach: 'MU's Goal Should Have Been Disallowed'

Coach Marco Silva argues that Manchester United's goal ought to be disallowed due to Yoro fouling Bassey prior to the goal.

With the home advantage, Fulham delivered a strong performance against Manchester United. They created as many scoring chances as their opponents, and after falling behind, Fulham quickly responded to equalize, resulting in a 1-1 draw for both sides.

After the match, Coach Marco Silva expressed satisfaction with his team's performance.

"Manchester United started better than us, having two very clear chances with Matheus Cunha, while we also had one opportunity with Josh King.

They began stronger, but from the 20th minute onward, we controlled the game well. We didn't leave many gaps, and they only created chances from set pieces. They scored, but that was also when our players reacted brilliantly during a tough moment in the match. We finished the game stronger, pressing and creating several chances inside their box. I am proud of the fans and how they supported the team until the very end."

Additionally, Marco Silva refused to criticize VAR, saying he was "not confident enough to explain things that are inherently unexplainable," while clearly showing frustration at the decision to allow United's opening goal, although he believed Leny Yoro had pushed Calvin Bassey.

The Fulham coach also stated that the penalty awarded to United in the first half should not have been given, as he felt Luke Shaw fouled Rodrigo Muniz during that play before Bassey pulled down Mason Mount.

“Perhaps (United's goal should be disallowed). It's hard to say more,” Silva shared.

“I think what I saw, I don't know how many people here, 30, 40, 50 thousand, you all saw the same as me. Everyone watching on TV, surely millions, millions of people.

The whole world saw what happened this afternoon through those decisions. I won't say more. I don't have enough confidence to explain things that simply can't be explained.”

Still, Silva emphasized his pride in the players after Emile Smith Rowe came off the bench to score and help Fulham earn a point, but he remained puzzled by the refereeing.

“They did extremely well in awarding the penalty,” Silva continued with irony.

“I think they (the refereeing team) are amazing and we should congratulate them."
