Choi Won-kwon, head coach of Thanh Hóa FC, accepts accountability following the 0-4 defeat against Ninh Bình.
After two rounds, Thanh Hóa has yet to secure a victory. Coach Choi Won-kwon's squad suffered a heavy 0-4 loss to Ninh Bình. This disappointing result for the Thanh Hóa team was marked by multiple defensive errors that led to at least two conceded goals.
After the match, coach Choi Won-kwon apologized to the fans who came to support Thanh Hóa, assuring that the team will come back stronger in the near future.
"I sincerely apologize to the fans; many came to the stadium to cheer for us today. I can only say that Thanh Hóa will do their utmost, find the strongest lineup, and aim for victory in the next match.
The season has just begun, and personally, I believe making mistakes early is better because it gives the whole team time to correct them. Every goal conceded had its cause, but I do not blame the players. This is the first time I have led a team and lost by four goals. For Thanh Hóa, this is also a disappointing result, but we will become stronger."
Meanwhile, coach Gerard Albaladejo praised Thanh Hóa for their solid and tight defense, but said Ninh Bình played better.
"We always enter every match with the spirit of winning. Today, Thanh Hóa’s defense was solid and well-organized. However, thanks to home advantage and a resilient fighting spirit, we secured the victory," he shared.
In the upcoming third round, Thanh Hóa will visit Hà Tĩnh’s stadium at 6:00 PM on August 27. Hà Tĩnh is also a tough opponent, having just achieved their first win against Đà Nẵng.
Thanh Hóa underwent a squad overhaul before the new season, losing several key players like A Mít, Gustavo, Thanh Long, etc. Coach Choi Won-kwon has had limited time to assemble the team, and the Korean strategist needs more time to steer Thanh Hóa in the right direction.
