Manchester United are reportedly intent on booking Portuguese sporting goblin Geovany Quenda now, but keeping him at his former club for the rest of the season. The first offer from the Red Devils, allegedly €40 million. Kunda's liquidated damages are as high as 100 million euros, but no club will pay that amount.
Ruben Amorim has promised that he will not bring in any players from Sporting in January, but if Kunda joins next summer, he will not break his promise. Rumours have revealed that the 17-year-old has been approached several times and confirmed that he will definitely leave Portugal next year. Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga also have a keen interest in Kunda.
Since being promoted by Amorim this season, Kunda has played 18 games, scoring two goals and registering two assists. The young player is capable of playing the role of wing-back, beating Manchester City in the Champions League as a right wing-back. At Manchester United, there is no winger who is fully qualified for the wide position in Amorim's 343 formation, and in terms of style, only Antony looks suitable, but his quality is considered not up to the mark.
Kunda, on the other hand, has a better sense of teamwork and doesn't mind being involved in defence at all, although his attacking talent is also admirable, and has been compared to Portugal's Yamal or Sporting Saka's Bukayo Saka. According to Spain's newspaper El Mundo, Manchester United are the club that has called Sport the most times about Kunda, and the Red Devils have been keeping a close eye on Kunda's situation long before Amorim took over.
However, Manchester United will face stiff competition, with many big clubs linked to Kunda, such as reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, who will be in charge of Portugal's sporting director Viana next season, so it is likely to join the bid, which will inevitably increase the price of Kunda.
Kunda signed a new contract with Sporting until 2027 in September, which includes a €100 million release clause. The PSI hierarchy believes that he will one day reach this valuation, which is why they have increased the termination amount from 45 million euros in the original contract to the current 100 million euros. It remains to be seen how much it will cost to convince the Portuguese sporting management to sell Kunda, Portugal's El Blazer promised.
In the Portuguese Super League, Kunda already holds several records, including setting a new Portuguese sporting record in October last year at the age of 17 years, 5 months and 27 days, surpassing Simão and Cristiano Ronaldo. He is also the record holder for the youngest start for Portugal in a Champions League match.
There have been recent rumours that United are planning to send Antony away in January and are intent on trading him for Flamengo 18-year-old Brazilian striker Llorand. However, the agent of "Kompasu" denied this claim. During the international break, the 24-year-old posted photos of himself training on social media, suggesting that he would be working hard to prepare for the challenge of playing for Amorim.
According to Antony's agent, Júnior Pedroso, Antony has no intention of leaving Manchester United. The club had just changed manager Amorim and Antony felt he could be used more and better. He has two and a half years left on his contract and is therefore determined to stay at Manchester United.
If Antony refuses to leave, United will have difficulties with transfer funds and salary space, as the Brazilian winger earns a whopping £200,000 a week! There are still some Red Devils supporters who appreciate Antony's fighting spirit and hope that new boss Amorim can give him another chance to activate the second most expensive player in team history.
