Robertson, a three-time UK champion, bounced back from an early mistake to secure a controlled 6-1 victory against Wu and booked his spot in the quarter-finals.
After missing an early black which gave Wu the first frame, Robertson responded with breaks of 51, 65, 75, and 68 to take command of the match.
He then overcame a 48-point deficit in the seventh frame to complete the win, displaying the calm and efficient snooker that characterized his peak years before last season's decline.
Now back to world number three and leading the one-year prize money rankings, he is starting to look like the player who won this title in 2013, 2015, and 2020.
Williams suffers upset
Robertson will meet Pang Junxu in the quarter-finals, after the world number 30 produced the standout result of the session by beating two-time champion Mark Williams 6-3.
Pang's only prior encounter with Williams ended in a heavy defeat at the 2023 Shanghai Masters, but he started strongly by taking the first frame and responded well to Williams’s century in the second.
Williams tried to mount a comeback with a 112 break to narrow the gap to 4-2, and interestingly had scored more points than Pang at the mid-session interval despite trailing 3-1.
However, that lead was superficial, as Pang composed himself with a break of 53 before sealing the victory with an excellent 116, earning a standing ovation for a performance marked more by clear thinking than flashy shots.
