In the LPL's third stage, JDG faced TES in a BO3, losing 0-2 and suffering yet another defeat! They lost an advantage in the second game, and several players performed poorly, resulting in significant controversy after the match.
Initially, JDG's official social media went wild, with many fans furiously stating: the three players from EDG are too weak, Scout was awful throughout, and was the coach's draft even reasonable? They are still picking Aphelios, and this lineup looks like it can't win! Some fans also expressed: only the jungler and AD are competent; they might as well be sent to other teams! Even more fans demanded a mid-laner change to see which position has the biggest issues using a controlled variable approach!
Additionally, LPL commentators Guan Zeyuan and Tongxi analyzed the reasons behind JDG's defeat. They believed that JDG lacked in details, with many operations that a top-tier team should be able to execute. In fact, JDG had already allowed Aphelios to push the mid lane, but they failed to capitalize on this advantage, giving away opportunities that were then lost. Xun had alleviated a lot of pressure for Scout early on, and Xiaoxu's K'Sante performed well, but it was mainly the incident in the jungle where Peyz's Aphelios was killed by a wall that left JDG with nothing. Before that play, they could still compete, but afterwards, they fell apart. The ideal situation would have been to create space after hitting a Gnar ultimate and push the mid tower without needing the jungler to cover an enlarged Gnar.
Guan Zeyuan also specifically mentioned: it must be said that Scout's condition in this BO3 was indeed poor; in the first game, he was targeted by Kanavi, and in the second game, he gave away an early kill, but Xun's Jarvan alleviated his pressure, so ideally, he should have been able to contribute something.
Finally, during the loser interview, xun also admitted: the regrettable part of this match was that overall, everyone played poorly.
From these games, it’s clear that JDG is no longer a top team in the LPL, especially as they are prone to being turned around by stronger teams when ahead, which is usually an issue for weaker teams. Rather than blaming the draft, it’s evident that the players' performances were simply too poor, with numerous mistakes and weak synergy, leading to a very disjointed playstyle. JDG's points were already low in the second stage, and with their current performance in the third stage, it feels like a world championship spot is far out of reach.
As for TES, they indeed played excellently, with everyone in great form, and JKL's performance remains outstanding. Currently, it looks promising for TES this stage, but it’s uncertain whether they can maintain this level if they make it to the world championship. Regardless, we hope TES can stabilize and perform well moving forward, as breaking the previous negative reputation will still require strength and results to back it up.
