Live streaming of League of Legends is becoming increasingly difficult; apart from a few people like Zita and Crystal Brother, who can maintain their popularity by commentating on matches, most streamers who solely play games are nearing their end. The viewers' preferences have also become quite strange; aside from watching matches, they show little interest in LOL itself. As a result, many streamers are playing other games during off-match times.
The emergence of the Delta has benefited Letme and Crystal Brother; when they play in the Delta, their popularity and viewer count are higher than when they stream 2V2. It's clear that today's League of Legends players are truly not enjoying the game anymore; they just want to watch matches and play other games. This is also the main reason for the decline in popularity of LOL technical streamers; the overall environment is like this, and there's really not much that can be done.
Streaming is tough, which has led many former top streamers to start slacking off and seek other ways to make money. Imp, as a world champion AD, attracted a lot of viewers with the old man cup in the past two years, making him one of the few still maintaining high popularity among streamers. However, he has recently started to "go off track," revealing during his streams that he has become obsessed with stock trading in the past year or two.
Some viewers joked that Imp has fallen off, and he directly retorted: "What does it matter to you if I fall off? Now, I can earn more in a day trading stocks than streaming for a month with 300 hours of broadcast. I don't care if I fall off." As soon as he said this, it felt oddly familiar; the previous stock god "Guo Fei Te," when he first started playing, seemed to have said the same thing in his stream as Imp did.
However, Imp has been trading stocks for much longer than MLXG. Last year, Imp made some profits, but at the beginning of this year, he lost some. Now, he earns more daily than he would in a month of streaming. We may not understand stock trading, nor do we want to evaluate it, but Imp truly hasn't learned from MLXG's experience. Clearly, he still has some popularity in streaming, yet he often bails on streams and slacks off; it seems he is not far from falling off himself.
The depths of this matter can only be described as profound. MLXG slacked off in streaming to trade stocks, ultimately failing to meet his streaming hours and losing a lawsuit to RNG, resulting in a 2500 penalty. After accumulating a mountain of debt, Xiang Guo finally realized the gravity of the situation. After switching to a new platform, his popularity was still acceptable, but it’s unrealistic to think he could cover his debts. Based on current streaming income, it feels like streaming for 10 years might not even be enough to repay RNG.
Initially, I thought MLXG's case would serve as a warning to other streamers, but unexpectedly, not long after, the second generation "stock god" in LOL appeared. Imp, who already has some mental issues, if he ends up like MLXG and loses everything, he might even need to upgrade his disability certificate. Despite various advice from viewers in his stream, he remains unresponsive, just like Xiang Guo before him, not only ignoring them but also cursing at his fans.
If Deft, who is currently serving in the military, hears that Imp is obsessed with stock trading, he would probably burst out laughing. Whether this venture is profitable is uncertain, but numerous bloody examples have already shown us the outcome. Everyone should avoid following Imp’s lead. Even if he loses, he can still stream, but for us ordinary folks, once we get trapped, there's no way out. I hope Imp ultimately doesn’t follow MLXG’s path; otherwise, he might truly become the second generation stock god.
Aside from MLXG, everyone should know about the incident with Xiao Chao Meng's parents trading stocks, which almost ruined their son. After seeing these two cases, it's clear that Imp is still deeply immersed in it; he seems truly obsessed. I wonder if Guo Laoshi, after hearing Imp’s remarks, will recall his own reckless youth.
So what do you think? Will Imp end up like MLXG?
