The LPL dark horse showdown has concluded, with WBG emerging as the victor! Xiaohu outperformed the 18-year-old mid laner, while Elk suffered numerous deaths.

Hello to all LPL viewers and League of Legends summoners, welcome to Tianxia Game Hub.

The LOL Demacia Cup is currently ongoing, and in a focal match yesterday, WBG triumphed over JDG with a 2-1 scoreline, winning this dark horse contest.

This game offered numerous exciting moments, particularly regarding player performances, which generated intense debate among the audience.

The dark horse duel ended with Xiaohu surpassing the 18-year-old mid laner.

First, a brief overview of JDG and WBG: both teams strengthened their rosters during the transfer period. From a team composition perspective, these two squads rank just behind BLG and AL. TES will not field their main roster in the new season segment, giving these two teams a better chance to emerge as dark horses and achieve strong results.

JDG’s lineup consists of Xiaoxu, Junjia, HongQ, GALA, and Vampire, while WBG fields Zika, Jiejie, Xiaohu, Elk, and Erha. Overall, the teams are fairly evenly matched.

The most anticipated aspect of this match was the performance of several newly transferred players, especially HongQ, the 18-year-old mid laner who once shone at the World Championship and is regarded as a future star in wildcard regions. However, in this matchup against Xiaohu, he was outperformed.

HongQ’s performance across the three games was relatively average, but Xiaohu stepped up to carry the team, particularly shining in games one and three with impressive Orianna plays, including excellent ball control and initiation with his ultimate.

It’s clear that Xiaohu’s mindset has shifted positively with new teammates. During transfer period interviews, he expressed great spirits. As a veteran LPL mid laner, Xiaohu naturally aims to achieve notable success.

Jiejie’s outstanding jungle performance contrasted sharply with Elk’s frequent deaths.

Regarding the jungle matchup, both Jiejie and Junjia are former EDG players who have rotated roles before. Early in Coach Factory’s tenure, Junjia had the upper hand over Jiejie, but as Jiejie improved, Junjia moved to other teams and eventually to a wildcard region, where he achieved some success in CFO.

This transfer period, Junjia joined LPL alongside HongQ, aiming to lead the team through mid-jungle synergy.

In this match, however, Jiejie outperformed him. In game one, Jiejie’s multiple proactive engages with jungle Rammus were highly effective, especially a top lane combo with support Rell that locked down multiple opponents, securing a significant lead and the win.

In the deciding game’s blind pick phase, both players chose Jayce jungle and farmed well, but Jiejie capitalized on a mid-game opportunity to assassinate Junjia. His skillful turret shots throughout the match were also impressive.

While WBG’s mid and jungle played well, Elk’s performance in the bottom lane was disappointing, with a high error rate. He died multiple times on Kai’Sa in game one and Varus in game two.

Dark horse performance predictions and team strengths and weaknesses analysis.

At the end of the transfer period, I shared my views on these two dark horse teams. I personally believed JDG had a higher chance of achieving good results, mainly because their coaching staff holds an advantage. Coach Tabe’s teams are known for their hardworking attitude and quick synergy development, often performing near their team’s peak.

In contrast, WBG’s coach is Korea’s Kim Jung-soo, who, despite coaching GEN, has faced criticism multiple times. His ability to lead a new team alone remains uncertain.

However, in this match, WBG took the early win, demonstrating stronger individual skill, which was quite surprising. The newly formed team performed well early on, setting a positive tone for the new season.

If Coach Kim Jung-soo can earnestly impart the core of Korean-style play to WBG while maximizing the players’ individual strengths, WBG’s potential ceiling is very high. Compared to JDG, WBG’s advantage lies in stronger offensive capabilities if all players perform well.

JDG, on the other hand, clearly needs to focus on a team-oriented playstyle, establishing a core and achieving good results through excellent strategy, communication, and teamwork.
