Greetings to all LPL fans and League of Legends summoners, welcome to Tianxia Gaming Report.
Following the transfer period, the LCK was the first to start the KeSPA Cup, and yesterday featured a key showdown between HLE and T1, with HLE’s revamped lineup managing to beat T1.

Nevertheless, Homme’s statements after the game ignited considerable controversy.
Champion coach causes uproar, Homme’s comments spark debate.
In yesterday’s match between HLE and T1, all HLE players performed excellently. In game one, Kanavi’s Aatrox jungle earned him MVP, with all three carries contributing. In game two, Kanavi made a mid-game mistake that led to a loss of control. In game three, HLE clinched the series thanks to Zeka’s Akali, who outplayed Faker in three solo kills.

Overall, in this KeSPA Cup, HLE’s players showcased their raw talent and mechanics, with multiple players stepping up to carry. T1, on the other hand, clearly struggled both in teamwork and individual form, showing a significant decline compared to their World Championship performance.
After the match, a video from HLE’s locker room was released, where Homme made controversial remarks. During the chat, Homme teased Kanavi: “Jin He (Kanavi’s name), is today a proving ground? You always say if you can play with kids like Hwan (Delight) and Zeus, T1 could win too.”

Kanavi was visibly surprised by Homme’s words, responding that today was just a warm-up match. It’s clear Kanavi was confused and didn’t understand why Homme suddenly made such comments.
Analyzing Homme’s controversy, focusing on teammate 369 before team fights.
The core of Homme’s statement reveals Kanavi’s long-standing desire for better teammates since his TES days, clearly expressing dissatisfaction with his former TES teammates. This raises questions about how TES players coached by Homme feel, and Kanavi is caught in the middle, possibly seen as disliking his old teammates.

Kanavi’s reaction also highlights the issue: this was just a warm-up style match. Even beating T1 doesn’t prove much, since it’s a new patch and roster in a period of adjustment. T1’s long break and poor form are understandable.
Some fans interpret Homme’s words as praise for the new players, but this way of complimenting is clearly inappropriate, and even Kanavi found it hard to accept.
Of course, some viewers feel Homme was just speaking the truth: Zeus and Delight are simply stronger than 369 and Zhuo.

However, it should be noted that during Homme’s time coaching in the LPL, he led JDG to an MSI championship when 369 was very strong. Every LoL player experiences peaks and valleys in their career, and as a coach, Homme should avoid making such remarks.
LPL duo attempts to gain control, Kanavi secures number 1.
I personally think Homme’s comment also overlooks Kanavi’s poor individual performance at Worlds. If Kanavi had consistently played well during his TES tenure, many might find Homme’s comments acceptable.

The key problem is Kanavi has repeatedly faltered in crucial matches over the years. This year at Worlds, his failed invade with Wukong and then contesting Draven’s kills don’t look like the actions of a player truly committed to winning.
In yesterday’s match against T1, Kanavi’s jungle play in game two also showed mistakes. Viewers even captured Gumayusi’s death stare after Kanavi’s Wukong error cost them the game.
It seems Homme has been overly tolerant of Kanavi. Now it appears Homme joined TES because of Kanavi, and the two have reunited at HLE. Their goal is to gain influence within HLE and steer the team’s direction. If so, Kanavi might end up with the highest status on the team.

Notably, Kanavi is currently the oldest player on HLE and has claimed jersey number 1, suggesting the duo might indeed hold significant sway over the team. We’ll have to wait and see how HLE performs going forward.
