The LPL Annual Awards Ceremony took place on the 6th, celebrating many players whose performances over the year earned them recognition and awards at the event.

Starting with the Most Popular Player of the Year, IG’s top laner theshy was selected again, making it the sixth time in his career. Basically, as long as theshy is playing professionally, he is guaranteed to win this award. On one hand, his peak performance was dazzling and loved by many fans; on the other hand, his consistent playstyle has remained unchanged. Even without reaching his peak glory again, he remains the most popular player in LPL. Therefore, in this fan-voted award, theshy’s win is well deserved.

Next, the Most Popular Host award went to Xiran, the Most Popular Caster was given to Rita, the Most Improved Caster/Host went to Xia An, the Best Rookie was awarded to EDG’s Parukia, and the Best Coaching Staff was given to AL.
The Best Foreign Player of the Year was awarded to AL’s jungler Tarzan, who also took home the biggest prize of the year — the MVP award. This honor is well deserved, as Tarzan has completely overturned previous doubts with his skill and performance. Since joining LPL, no matter how many teammates he has changed, he has almost always reached the World Championship, proving his strength. Although he previously struggled with mindset issues and underperformed internationally, he has gradually overcome these problems. His performance has long warranted recognition, and we hope he continues to excel next year.

The Best Lineup of the Year includes top laner Saint, jungler Tarzan, mid laner Knight, bot laner JKL, and support Kael. The mid lane spot is controversial, as many believe shanks deserves the award more. Although Knight performed well individually this year, BLG’s international results were poor, exiting at the round of 16. In contrast, AL had better international results, and shanks also performed well personally, so the mid lane selection sparked debate.

However, if the mid lane award went to shanks, AL would have four players in the Best Lineup. AL did not win the league championship this year and performed worse internationally than TES, making it unlikely for them to have four players selected. Giving the spot to Knight seems somewhat like dividing the awards, but there was no better candidate. Knight was BLG’s best and most consistent player this year, so his award is reasonable.

Finally, the Best Club of the Year was awarded to AL. This is AL’s first time receiving this honor since the team’s formation. Although they won no championships throughout the year, their strong international performances earned recognition. International tournament results have a big impact on this award. Since no LPL team won an international championship this year, it is reasonable that AL, as the best-performing team internationally, received the most awards.
