On January 2, LPL officially announced that the first stage of LPL will officially open on January 12.
Spring/Summer is a thing of the past, and the 2025 LPL will be divided into three stages, each of which will compete for a spot in the Worlds. The first stage of the LPL will compete to participate in the new League of Legends international tournament.
Stage 1 Grouping:
Group A: TES, AL, LGD, WE
Group B: WBG, JDG, OMG, UP
Group C: BLG, LNG, TT, EDG
Group D: NIP, FPX, IG, RNG
The first stage is from January to March
Format: 16 teams will be drawn and divided into four groups according to the 2024 rankings. The group stage is a single round-robin round robin of BO5, and the top two in each group advance to the knockout round. The knockout rounds are a double-elimination format, with the second group starting from the lower bracket with only one life, and the first group starting from the upper bracket.
The game uses a new global BP (that is, heroes selected on both sides can no longer be used) plus solo side selection.
There are two kinds of solo side selection, one is the regular season BO5, the first game is selected through the solo match, and the subsequent side selection is for the loser. The other is the knockout round BO5, the first game is played by flipping a coin, and the fifth game is played through solo side selection, so as to eliminate the advantage of the first side in the first game.
The winner of Stage 1 will be able to participate in the new Worlds!
