On November 19, T1 officially announced the departure of Zeus.
Regarding Zeus's departure, Korean media also published the content "ZOFGK's idealism is still invincible to reality in the end", revealing the inside story of Zeus's transfer.
T1 put forward three conditions, and the final proposal amount was slightly higher than the previous contract, but the contract period was 3+1 years, reflecting the mood of wanting to work with Zeus for a long time. Although the length of the contract was exceptional, in the end, it could not be resolved due to a disagreement over the amount, and Zeus chose to accept the market's evaluation. Zeus received a large proposal at the beginning of the transfer period, and the negotiations between Zeus and T1 were scheduled to take place on the morning of the 19th, but the agent requested to postpone the schedule on the same day.
However, Zeus's position is different from that of T1, saying that they only set the contact in the morning and did not determine the meeting schedule, but they did not cut off contact with T1 and conveyed the final proposal to T1 online, which has not been positive.
In this case, the negotiations continued through online non-face-to-face interviews, and the T1 team leader and COO rushed to Incheon in order to negotiate directly with Zeus, and in the competition with other teams, T1 almost narrowed the gap in amounts.
In the end, a decision was made before the difference in positions narrowed. It is understood that T1 proposed a one-year or 1+1 plan considering the increase in the contract amount, and Zeus mentioned two years in this regard.
Zeus said that we did not propose a counter-proposal for the annual salary during the negotiations, and that the amount initially proposed by T1 was an unacceptable condition in our judgment, and although it was a slight increase from this year's annual salary, we conveyed to T1 from the beginning that we would accept market evaluation and not negotiate additional terms. We proposed a 3 p.m. deadline to T1, but waited until 3:40 p.m., and the final amount was somewhat similar, but there was a lot of disagreement about the length of the contract.
T1 said that although we unilaterally received a deadline notice of 3 o'clock, we rushed to Incheon in person to continue the negotiations until the last minute, and finally requested additional negotiations online, but received a notice of refusal from the brokerage company.
In the end, Zeus accepted the other team's proposal at 3:40 p.m., probably because of dissatisfaction with the one-year contract. T1 arrived at the negotiation site at around 4 p.m., and Zeus's contract signing was over.
Of course, the libero player has to choose the conditions that are more favorable to him, but if the idea of extending the 3 p.m. deadline is a little more, maybe it can be a beautiful parting, right? It's just that I'm afraid that such a parting may become a bad memory, and that would be a pity.
