Is it just nonsense or is there real strength? Can the Bross truly take down a battleship? You’ll understand after reading this.

Since the launch of version 14.6 of "World of Warships" in China, four M-class destroyers equipped with the new smoke generator mechanism have attracted significant attention from players, with the Tier 10 ship Bross receiving the most extreme reviews. Some believe that the ship's firepower combined with the timed smoke generator can easily overpower battleships; while others disagree, arguing that it has strength, but lacks a clear advantage compared to other M-class destroyers.

Amidst the differing opinions, which viewpoint holds more credibility? Today, let’s analyze the strengths and weaknesses of this ship from multiple dimensions.

In terms of firepower, the Bross is equipped with three twin-mounted 137mm main guns, which have a larger caliber than the 127mm guns of other M-class destroyers by 10mm, resulting in increased damage and penetration. Its ammunition consists of HE and SAP, with the SAP rounds having a base damage of 3000 and a penetration of 38mm. Some online have claimed it can take down battleships, which does have some truth, but only against those battleships with deck and hull armor at 32mm or lower; it struggles against heavier battleships.

More often than not, the way the Bross deals damage to battleships is to first use HE rounds to set them on fire, then switch to SAP for damage output. When facing cruisers and destroyers, thanks to its 4-second reload advantage and the high damage of SAP, it can quickly reduce the enemy's health.

Due to the increased weight of the main guns and ammunition, the Bross is equipped with only five torpedo launchers to balance its tonnage, with a base damage of 19033, a speed of 66 knots, and a range of 10.5 km. Although the range is not long, the damage and speed are acceptable, and with a reload time of 80 seconds, it still poses a certain level of threat against larger warships.

Now let’s talk about its smoke generator. I’ve noticed many players have misunderstandings about how to use this smoke, thinking it can be turned on and off at will, but that’s not the case. Once activated, the smoke generator has a minimum activation time of 15 seconds, meaning each use must last the full 15 seconds before it can be stopped; if stopped early, the consumable will enter a 20-second cooldown.

Additionally, during the 15 seconds of activation, the smoke does not provide concealment for the entire duration; it loses its cover after 5 seconds. This means players still need to calculate the concealment time to act, and unlike other M-class destroyers, it simply replaces the single-use duration with total usage time, theoretically allowing for more uses. However, due to the Bross's larger hull, its concealment is inherently worse than other M-class destroyers, leading to a lower margin for error. Therefore, in actual combat, it’s necessary to leverage smoke and maneuverability, actively extinguishing points, which can be quite complex but allows for higher potential performance.

Regarding survivability, the Bross compensates for its lack of concealment with more health; fully stacked with buffs, its health can reach around 29000. However, since it doesn’t have the endurance of larger ships, it’s advisable not to treat it like a large cruiser!

Overall, the strength of the Bross is not as exaggerated as some players claim online, but it is certainly not "all show and no substance." It is a destroyer with unique charm and tactical value, and whether it can fully showcase its capabilities in battle depends greatly on the player's skills and tactical application.
