Day One of the Challenger Cup: The FMVP hero Yinuo was killed twice by a female player, EDG suffered a shocking early exit, and RNG swept XYG cleanly.

The much-awaited 2025 Challenger Cup has officially started! The initial four games largely unfolded as predicted. The sole surprise was the match between EDG and UUG!

RNG and XYG launched the opening game of this Challenger Cup. However, for these two teams, the defeated side would become the first to be knocked out of the tournament! Therefore, neither wanted to lose. Yet, XYG’s performance disappointed viewers across the internet. After losing the first game, XYG took control in the second.

However, just before a crucial Dragon King team fight, a player lost coordination with the team. This disappointment caused XYG to squander their 19-minute lead completely! After RNG’s incredible comeback victory, XYG lost all morale and were eliminated 0-3! It’s now very difficult for XYG to return to the KPL.

The second match lacked much excitement since it was a KPL team facing a streamer team. Still, WD managing to take a game off TES was somewhat surprising!

The third match featured EDG versus UUG. Naturally, most favored EDG before the game. However, UUG is a KPL S-tier summer season team. Although it was only a single round, it showed UUG’s strength. Despite EDG leading 2-0, UUG came back to win three straight games, completing the first reverse sweep of the Challenger Cup! EDG became the first KPL team eliminated.

Of course, the most anticipated was the fourth match between AG Super Play and TE Su. Although AG was expected to win with a clean sweep, it was the debut of a female team in the Challenger Cup and their first official match against AG, making it highly noteworthy!

AG easily defeated their opponents 3-0, as expected! However, Yinuo’s Gongsun Li being killed twice in one game by the opposing player became a focal point. After the match, Yinuo himself admitted that even in the finals, his Gongsun Li was never killed twice. Yet, against a female player, he was killed twice!

With just three weeks left in Season 41, players who haven’t reached King rank might want to try Angela for ranking up. Angela ignores any meta or rank and has appeared multiple times in pro matches. Her skills boost her damage and movement speed when hitting enemies; her second skill provides control and slow, and her ultimate grants super armor and a shield while active.

In the jungle, there’s almost no opponent Angela can’t quickly eliminate. Thanks to her passive damage, Angela excels in both laning and ambushing from the brush, easily achieving impressive results. Facing a skilled Angela player who controls vision and ambushes can frustrate enemies immensely. Not mastering Angela means missing out, as she’s a mage that can help you climb ranks significantly and is well worth practicing.

Then there’s Shiranui Mai, who not only has high mobility but can also apply crowd control effects. Most importantly, her second skill reduces the enemy’s magic defense. Skilled Mai players can chain seven dashes using her abilities combined with Flash, making her so elusive that even Han Xin sometimes can’t catch her.

Shiranui Mai boasts high burst damage and strong ability to target carries, and can even initiate fights effectively when needed. Her skills synergize well with Flash. Mai is viable regardless of the meta, and mastering her can greatly help you climb the ranks.
