Just last night, the 2025 WCI China server qualifiers for World of Tanks concluded. The team 2072, mainly composed of former veterans from the northern China server, defeated AlphaAsh to secure the third and final ticket representing China at the 2025 WCI.

2072 will join GCAT, who qualified in the first round, and ONEONE, who defeated them in the second round to qualify second, to head to Suzhou and take the stage at this year’s WCI world event.

Among these three teams, 2072 is relatively inexperienced at the WCI level. The other two teams have stronger pedigrees: ONEONE was last year’s WCI runner-up, led by veteran commander Old Dao, who competed in the 2015 world championship and also earned runner-up honors; GCAT reached the WCI in 2023.

ONEONE, who narrowly lost to Hit And Run last year and finished as runner-up
Since the resumption of China server tournaments, 2072 has been a constant presence on the WCL stage but has never even claimed a runner-up spot in domestic events. Yet in this qualifier, 2072 broke through decisively, even delivering a clean sweep against AlphaAsh (referred to as Team A below) in the finals.

Although the overall score was a decisive victory, each match was fiercely contested. 2072 fully leveraged their aggressive playstyle and highly efficient focus fire to cripple Team A’s counterattack before it could take effect. In the third match at Silmersdorf, 2072 concentrated their forces and committed fully to the flanks.
With a force advantage of 2 BZ-75s and 3 NC-70Bs, they rushed the capture circle, first focusing fire to nearly eliminate Typhoon, then exploited Team A’s chaos to push them out of cover. While executing a large enemy front rotation back to cover, they coordinated with teammates to completely destroy Team A’s three-man flag capture squad. This initial advantage secured the win.

In the following fourth match, the battle continued in Silmersdorf. Team A imitated 2072’s previous setup with double BZ-75s and triple NC-70Bs. However, 2072 chose to lie in wait at the train station, baiting Team A and using the tough and powerful Type 5 heavy tank to cut off the connection between the waiting hall and tracks, splitting and surrounding Team A’s main force, then successfully annihilating them.

Before officially securing their spot yesterday, 2072 frequently faced off against ONEONE, who qualified a week earlier, with both teams trading wins. ONEONE showed very strong performance this year, generally winning by large margins and demonstrating impressive tactical discipline.

In the third match on the Siegfried Line, facing 2072’s choice to cluster five tanks together and starting with a 4K HP lead, ONEONE fully utilized their mobility advantage. They quickly eliminated a lone IS-4, then leveraged their numerical and DPM superiority to prevent 2072’s reinforcements from recovering firepower, resulting in 2072 being swiftly wiped out instead.

GCAT secured qualification in the first week, dominating AlphaAsh 5:0 in the semifinals. In the third match on the Siegfried Line, after a stalemate, GCAT boldly mobilized their main force between the outskirts and city passages for rapid maneuvers, successfully evading Team A’s light tank scouts.

Then GCAT executed a central attack, drawing Team A’s city forces in, and coordinated with rear units like the Type 5 and Rheinmetall Leopard to focus fire, ultimately crushing Team A in the meat grinder.

Overall, in the three rounds of China server qualifiers, ONEONE, GCAT, and 2072 all demonstrated outstanding strength, proving themselves as true top-tier teams. Can they advance further on the WCI battlefield and claim the championship? Let’s wait and see!
