Wood was ruled out of the ongoing second Test in Brisbane after experiencing soreness following Australia's eight-wicket victory in the series opener in Perth.

The 35-year-old sustained a knee brace on his left knee on the first day of the Gabba Test on Thursday and told Australian broadcaster Seven Network that he might not be ready until the fourth Test in Melbourne starting December 26.

"I believe there is a possibility for Adelaide. More likely, it will be Melbourne and then (Sydney) afterwards," he stated.

"I need to remove this (brace) first before I can start moving around."

Spin-bowling all-rounder Will Jacks took Wood's place in an otherwise unchanged England XI at the Gabba.

England currently trail 1-0 in the five-Test series.
