2-for-1! A potential restart of the Kuminga trade! The longest soap opera in the NBA

As the uncertainty surrounding Kuminga's status continues, Horford and Melton's wait for contracts with the Warriors has stretched on.

Recent reports suggest that insiders have disclosed the Kings still see a possibility for a sign-and-trade deal involving Kuminga and the Warriors.

According to earlier reports, the Kings are ready to offer Kuminga a three-year, $63 million contract, along with Monk and a protected 2030 first-round pick to the Warriors. The Warriors do not entirely reject this offer, but their point of contention is that they prefer an unprotected first-round pick.

Monk, born on February 4, 1998, is 27 years old and stands 6 feet 3 inches tall. Last season, he played 65 games, starting in 45, averaging 31.6 minutes per game, contributing 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, with shooting percentages of 43.9%, 32.5%, and 86.5%. He can serve as both a starter and a key scorer off the bench, with a salary of $18.8 million for the upcoming season.

If all else fails, the Warriors might consider accepting the Kings' 2-for-1 offer, as it’s better than losing Kuminga for nothing. Moreover, retaining him for the 25-26 season could disrupt team chemistry, especially with Draymond Green's notorious temper; his large fists are likely itching for action, which could lead to embarrassment for the entire league.

Poole: You've all heard my story, right?

In fact, before the Warriors made any concessions, Kuminga's stance had begun to soften, at least not as adamantly refusing to return to the team. He proposed a three-year, $82 million contract extension, which was coldly rejected, leading to a stalemate with no contact for several weeks.

The contract extension offered by the Warriors to Kuminga is for two years at $45 million, including a team option for the second year... If they were to change the team option to a player option, Kuminga might agree, as it’s uncomfortable to leave his fate in someone else's hands.

Kuminga was the 7th overall pick in the 2021 draft and has played four seasons with the Warriors, averaging 22 minutes per game in the regular season, scoring 12.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists with a shooting percentage of 50.7%. In the playoffs, he averages 11.4 minutes per game, scoring 7 points and 1.6 rebounds, with a shooting percentage of 49.7%.
