Germany defeated Slovenia 103-89
In a sold-out arena in Ljubljana during the 2025 Euro Championship warm-up match, Franz Wagner and David Kramer each scored 18 points, leading Germany to a 103-89 victory over Slovenia. This was the first warm-up match for both national teams ahead of the upcoming 2025 European Championship.
Lakers superstar Luka Doncic played 24 minutes in this game, scoring 19 points, providing 5 assists, and grabbing 3 rebounds, marking his first basketball game since losing weight.
With Germany leading 82-60 at the end of the third quarter and controlling the game, Doncic did not play in the fourth quarter. During the match, Doncic also had an altercation with Isaac Bonga, who previously played for the Lakers and is now with the German team.
Germany was missing key players such as Dennis Schröder, Daniel Theis, and Maodo Lo for this match. The two teams will face off again in Mannheim, Germany.
Finland triumphed over Belgium 105-62
Jazz star Lauri Markkanen was on fire, scoring 48 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, helping Finland defeat Belgium 105-62, kicking off their warm-up campaign for the 2025 Euro Championship.
In front of fans in his hometown of Vantaa, Markkanen played just 25 minutes and shot 10 of 11 on two-pointers and 7 of 13 on three-pointers. Although this was just a warm-up match, his 48 points set a new personal best for a single game while wearing the Finnish national team jersey.
When discussing his 48-point performance, the focal player said, "Well, I haven't played here in a while. I have fond memories of my last international game in Vantaa, and I felt from the start that I could perform well today. However, there is still room for improvement in many areas."
Sasu Salin, who completed his 150th international match for the national team, added, "It's really amazing that Lauri could deliver such a 'gift' on my 150th national team game. I've been with this team for quite a few years, and basketball is still a lot of fun. It's great to have teammates like this."
Oliver Nkamhoua contributed 11 points for Finland, while Miikka Aalto scored 4 points and recorded 8 assists. Sasu Salin also added 8 points.
For Belgium, Viliye Van scored 12 points, and Mamadou Gassama added 10 points.
France defeated Great Britain 74-67
Hawks rookie Richaun Holmes set the tone for France, contributing 12 points and 6 rebounds in 14 minutes, helping the team win 74-67 against Great Britain. This was France's second warm-up match, and due to Sylvain Francisco's shoulder injury, the team also cut Ntilikina, Diot, and Diabate.
Despite shooting only 4 of 22 from three-point range, France gradually took the lead after a competitive first quarter, even building a 19-point advantage (69-50) with 4 minutes left in the game.
Mouhamed Gueye (12 points, 5 rebounds) and Theo Maledon (8 assists) also had impressive performances. Head coach Frédéric Fauthoux received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Palais des Sports, which can hold 7,000 spectators—he played here for 17 years and began his coaching career in 2012.
France has three more warm-up matches left, two against Spain (on August 14 and 16), and the final one against Greece in Athens (on August 24).
Lithuania defeated Turkey 91-70
Turkey's first warm-up match ended in defeat against Lithuania, with Lithuania winning 91-70 in Istanbul.
Despite not fielding Jonas Valančiūnas, Lithuania established a commanding lead by halftime (50-31) and maintained that advantage throughout, never allowing the balance of victory to shift.
On the other side, Turkey used a total of 14 players in the game, making several experimental adjustments, while Rockets star Alperen Şengün played only 7 minutes, scoring 4 points. Captain Cedi Osman contributed 17 points, and Furkan Korkmaz added 15 points.
For Lithuania, Normantas led the team with 15 points, while Rokas Jokubaitis delivered a comprehensive performance with 13 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds, contributing in multiple areas.
