The NBA regular season has been kicking off for some time now, and as the season progresses, some player records are slowly being reached. This season we are expected to see many superstars set records, such as Curry's 4,000 three-pointers. In just a few games of the season, we've seen two stars complete their respective records: Thompson and Harden.
Thompson hit two three-pointers today, bringing his personal three-point tally to 2,500, while Harden personally reached his career 26,000-point milestone. It has to be said that both records are of great commemorative significance. Of course, from another point of view, it also proves that these players have reached the twilight of their careers. These numbers are a condensation of the outstanding performances of their careers. Many fans lamented that those teenagers back then are now slowly getting older.
Thompson is currently at 2,500 three-pointers and currently sits in sixth place in NBA history. But fans who are familiar with Thompson should know that if it weren't for the fact that Thompson suffered two major injuries in his career and missed two years. It may be that Thompson's total career three-point shooting is second only to Curry. Thompson missed two seasons in his career, the 19~20 season and the 20~21 season. Thompson is able to hit more than 200 three-pointers each season. If Thompson hadn't missed these two seasons, he might have made more than 3,000 three-pointers in his current career, surpassing Ray Allen completely. He may be second only to his good brother Curry in terms of total three-point shooting in history.
And Harden's career has now reached 26,000 points, which is also a memorable record. He is currently in 20th place on the all-time scoring charts. Garnett, who is currently ranked ahead of Harden, has 67 points more than Harden, and presumably in about two or three games Harden can complete the overtaking of Garnett. Ranked 19th all-time.
For Harden, he could move up the all-time scoring list this season, as many of the players who came before him have now retired, and their total points ahead of Harden are only a few hundred points. If Harden had played in 80 games this season, he would probably have scored 27,900 points by the end of the season, based on his current points per game. He is expected to surpass Moses Malone in the 11th all-time position. It has to be said that Harden is also a player with a very high career attendance rate and a player who rarely gets injured. Otherwise, his total points would not have come to such a high ranking.
