After winning the championship, they switched roles! Rondo and his son recreated a classic photo from five years ago: this time, it's dad's turn to drink heartily.

On July 28, Beijing time, Pierre Rondo (son of former NBA star Rajon Rondo) updated his social media with a photo taken after his championship victory. He was seen sitting on a floor littered with paper, holding a phone, while his father Rondo celebrated behind him, tilting his head back and drinking in honor of his son's achievement.

Lakers fans are sure to find this scene familiar. Five years ago, when the Lakers won the 2020 championship, Rondo sat on a similar floor covered in paper, also holding a phone, with his then 8-year-old son Pierre behind him, exuberantly holding a champagne bottle. This iconic photo sparked much discussion at the time.

Five years later, Pierre is now 13, and he has won the championship alongside his teammates. It’s unclear whose idea it was, but Pierre and his father Rondo recreated that moment from five years ago. This time, Pierre is sitting on the floor, and it’s Rondo’s turn to drink joyfully behind him.

At 39 years old, Rondo has played 16 seasons in the NBA, with his last appearance on the court during the 2021-22 season. He has played for the Celtics, Mavericks, Kings, Bulls, Pelicans, Lakers, Hawks, Clippers, and Cavaliers, winning the NBA championship twice, being selected as an All-Star four times, making the All-Defensive team four times, and being named to the All-NBA team once, in addition to winning the assists title three times and the steals title once.

Since retiring from basketball, Rondo often takes on coaching roles, but he has also encountered trouble off the court. In January of last year, he was pulled over by police in Indiana for traffic violations and was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana. In September, Rondo reached a plea agreement, which included the dismissal of the marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges. He was sentenced to 2 days in jail plus 180 days of probation.
