On July 28, Beijing time, a video of Little Kawhi connecting with Yang Hansen appeared on social media. In the video, the two discussed their experiences playing in the NBA and agreed to practice basketball together in China. Yang Hansen taught Little Kawhi some Chinese, making the Clippers star laugh heartily.
In this roughly one-minute video, Little Kawhi first asked Yang Hansen, “Are you still enjoying your experience in the NBA?” Yang Hansen replied, “The pace is a bit fast; they move as quickly as rabbits, and the tempo is quite a bit to get used to.”
Hearing this analogy, Little Kawhi laughed and said, “Once you accumulate more practical experience, the pace will naturally slow down.”
Yang Hansen also mentioned his experiences with American fans wanting to take pictures with him. “Every time someone sees me, they want to take a photo; many just see my height and don’t even know my name,” Yang Hansen said.
Little Kawhi responded, “I can totally relate; I'm flying there on the 24th and am super excited for this trip. Can you teach me some Chinese?”
Yang Hansen thought for a moment and first taught Little Kawhi his surname: “Leonard, that’s your last name.”
Little Kawhi repeated it and burst into laughter. He then asked, “How do you say trash talk in Chinese?”
“You can’t guard me,” Yang Hansen said in Chinese. Little Kawhi also tried to pronounce it in Chinese.
Yang Hansen taught another phrase: “Chao Ba, which means big fool in the local dialect of Qingdao.”
“I realize I need you to teach me Chinese in person, hahaha,” Little Kawhi said with a smile. Hansen also laughed, producing his signature chuckle. At a previous press conference, many fans noted that Hansen's infectious laugh is quite similar to Little Kawhi's, and now they finally appeared together.
“The rabbit dishes there are fantastic!” Yang Hansen recommended some local delicacies.
“I’ll try the rabbit. Brother, if you have some free time, let’s go to the gym and practice shooting! I’ll definitely call you when I get there!” Little Kawhi said.
Then, Hansen said in English, “Stay in touch!” Little Kawhi didn’t understand it the first time, but after Hansen repeated it, he got it and laughed again.
Let’s look forward to more interactions between the two; who knows, maybe Hansen will really teach Little Kawhi a few moves.
