On June 2, Beijing time, the Timberwolves entered the Western Conference finals for two consecutive years, but they failed to go further. This offseason, the team may change significantly, with Durant becoming the main target of the Timberwolves, while players such as Randle, Reed, and Alexander Walker are likely to change teams.
The Timberwolves are currently overtaking the Rockets as Durant's number one favorite, but the Suns may not be interested in Randle, and as the main trade chip, the Timberwolves may need a third or even a fourth team to complete the Durant trade.
Randle's latest odds are out, with the Pistons (+175) being his top favorite, followed by the Hornets, Rockets, Wizards, Nets and Raptors. This season, Randle played in 69 regular season games for the Timberwolves, averaging 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 48.5% from the field, and played in 15 playoff games for the Timberwolves, averaging 21.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game while shooting 50.2% from the field. Randle has one year left on his contract and is a player option worth $30.93 million for the 2025-26 season.
Reed, the Timberwolves' sixth man, could also leave the team, with the latest odds suggesting that the Warriors (+175) are the favourites to get Reed, followed by the Nets, Hornets, Lakers and Raptors. Previously, Fischer previously reported that many in the league expect Reed to decline to exercise his $15 million player option for next season this summer and become a free agent. The Warriors do need to improve their No. 5 position.
This season, Reed played in 80 regular season games for the Timberwolves, averaging 14.2 points, 6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, shooting 46.2% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range. Played in 15 playoff games, averaging 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, shooting 50.9% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range.
Alexander Walker is another attractive player for the Timberwolves. The latest odds show that the Thunder (+230) and Lakers (+235) are the favourites for Walker. Behind the two teams are the Nets, Warriors, Heat and Raptors. Walker averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 82 regular season games this year, and 8.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 15 playoff games. He is the cousin of Thunder star Alexander, will he join the Thunder United watch brother?
What kind of lineup will the Timberwolves have in the new season? Let's wait and see.
