Huazi was fined $50,000! The use of inappropriate language + obscene gestures to fans has lost more than 600,000 this season

On April 23, Beijing time, the NBA officially announced that Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was fined $50,000 by the league for using inappropriate language and making obscene gestures to a fan. Counting the previous fines and bans, Huazi's cumulative losses this season have exceeded $600,000.

The incident occurred in the middle of the third quarter of Game 1 of the Timberwolves-Lakers series. The video shows Edwards mentioning Gobert's career earnings in response to fan ridicule of Timberwolves center Gobert.

Edwards confronted Lakers fans: "He's got $200 million (Gobert corrects: it's $300 million), he's got $300 million, and my JJ is bigger than yours." In the last few seconds of this video, the phrase "My JJ is bigger than yours" caused Huazi to incur a fine.

Throughout the season, Edwards was fined several times by the league for various violations, including the use of profane language in media interviews on several occasions. Before the playoffs began, he was deducted $320,000 from his salary for six separate incidents, a total that doesn't include the $242,000 he lost due to a one-game suspension and every small fine automatically incurred for his league-leading 17 technical fouls.

The specific penalties are as follows -

1. Criticized the referee after the game and used foul language was fined $75,000

2. He was fined $25,000 for swearing during the interview

3. During the game, he was fined $35,000 for his middle finger

4. He was fined $100,000 for swearing again during the interview

5. Make insulting gestures to the referee and be fined $50,000

6. Throwing the ball into the audience after being ejected and fined $35,000.

7. Use inappropriate language and make obscene gestures to fans, and a fine of $50,000

Edwards also suffered a one-game suspension with pay for 16 technical fouls accumulated in the season, losing $242,393 per game; Edwards has lost more than $600,000 this season due to bans and fines. For Edwards, though, all these lost paychecks are still a fraction of the bucket. His salary this season is $42.2 million, and he will also receive $202.4 million over the next four years.
