Embiid successfully underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee! Review in 6 weeks There are four years and $240 million left on the contract

On April 12, Beijing time, the 76ers officially announced that the team's center Joel Embiid successfully underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee earlier this week. He will be re-evaluated after six weeks.

Embiid was reimbursed for the season in February due to recurring knee problems. The team's decision to put Embiid out of action at the time was to focus on the center's "long-term health and athletic performance."

At the time, Embiid's next treatment plan wasn't clear, but last week, the 2023 NBA's Most Valuable Player opted for surgery. This is the second time Embiid has had surgery on the same knee in more than a year, having undergone surgery to repair his torn meniscus in February 2024.

Embiid has struggled with knee problems all season. He missed the first nine games due to what he called "left knee injury management," a situation that eventually sparked an NBA investigation into the All-Star's eligibility.

However, knee problems persisted, and by February, Embiid admitted that he wasn't performing as usual. At the end of February, Embiid consulted with a number of doctors and specialists and finally decided that a new treatment option was needed.

This season, Embiid only played 19 games due to injury, averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, shooting 44.4% from the field and 29.9% from three-point range.

Embiid has four years left on his contract, $55.22 million for the 2025-26 season, $57.98 million for the 2026-27 season, $62.62 million for the 2027-28 season, and a $67.26 million player option for the 2028-29 season, with the remainder of the contract totaling more than $240 million.
