The Miami Heat’s official channel accidentally leaked the news! LeBron James is heading to Miami! The date is set for July 27th.

While the media and various pundits keep speculating, LeBron is enjoying his offseason downtime. Today he went to Puerto Rico for a golf game with friends.

Today, a well-known prediction agency updated the latest odds for LeBron's next team:

1. Miami Heat 39%
2. Cleveland Cavaliers 36%

The Cavaliers and Heat are neck and neck, but Miami still holds a slight edge. In recent days, the Heat have consistently topped the probability list for LeBron's next destination.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. The Miami Heat's official YouTube channel posted a test video earlier today titled: "Press Conference for LeBron James Joining the Team, Welcoming His Return to the Miami Heat" , which has since been deleted.

Later, Heat reporter Anthony Chiang tweeted an explanation: "This was a mistake by the Heat's social media department! Another Heat reporter, Barry Jackson, addressed conspiracy theorists' questions about why the leaked video was dated July 27th. Some believe the Heat knew LeBron's plans in advance, but he pointed to LeBron's past history:

In 2010, LeBron's team informed the Heat just minutes before the start of ESPN's "The Decision" broadcast that he was joining; on July 1, 2018, LeBron's team told the Lakers just minutes before Klutch's official announcement tweet that he was coming; LeBron has never notified a team hours or days in advance to avoid leaks.

Still, on paper, the Heat do seem like a great fit for LeBron. Compared to the Cavaliers, Miami has a higher championship probability.

Heat legend Tim Hardaway said: "The longer it drags on, the better the Heat's chances of getting LeBron. The longer the tug-of-war, the more Pat Riley can convince people. And from a technical and playing-style perspective, Miami is the best team for him."

Heat reporter Ira Winderman discussed the prospect of LeBron joining: "In terms of playing style fit, it makes a lot of sense. As athletes get older, the last thing they want to do is defend. Miami has Bam Adebayo, Giannis (likely a typo? but keeping original), Davion Mitchell, and Andrew Wiggins. LeBron could even be the weakest defender in the starting lineup, and the rotation would still work—he can focus on his strengths."

Perkins said on a TV show today that Rich Paul told him on the phone that LeBron had already made up his mind, but then suddenly changed his thinking, and everything needs to be reconsidered.
