LeBron James is expected to announce his decision within 48 hours! His 11-year-old daughter Zhuri is the decisive factor: he might choose the Warriors for her sake.

Reporter Sidery has reported that with rising private negotiations, LeBron James will probably confirm his free agency decision within 48 hours. Five teams—Cleveland, Miami, Philadelphia, Minnesota, and Golden State—are on the shortlist. After LeBron's official announcement, the last flurry of free agency activity will fully commence.

The New York Post reports that James admitted, "My daughter carries a lot of weight in this decision." Indeed, the future of this universally recognized all-time great is largely in the hands of a middle school student.

Now 41 years old, James has played an unprecedented 23 NBA seasons. He knows better than anyone that greatness requires sacrifice. He always arrives at the gym three hours early for training and shows up at the arena five hours before games to warm up.

After eight seasons with the Lakers—the longest continuous stint with one team in his career—he chose to leave, creating a conflict between his professional ambitions and family ties.

This means he will not only miss time with his family due to his intense focus on basketball, but he might also be separated from them by two cities for the first time in his career. Zhuri is the one he cares about most.

His wife Savannah has long adapted to the constant traveling alongside him; his two sons are independent: Bronny, nearly 22, plays for the Lakers; Bryce, 19, plays for the University of Arizona.

Zhuri has lived in Los Angeles since preschool; all her friends are there, and she is emerging as a local volleyball prospect. Uprooting her and disrupting her life would be too harsh for a child. This is why many believe the Warriors are the best destination for James to end his career.

A flight from Los Angeles to the Bay Area takes only 45 minutes, even shorter than his commute from Brentwood to the Lakers' downtown arena back in the day.

Consider this: if he goes to the East Coast, a single flight takes five hours. Would he be willing to be separated from his family by a thousand miles? Observers think not. Cleveland, Miami, and Philadelphia are likely not among the top options.

This free agency decision has long surpassed basketball itself; it concerns his personal happiness, which is closely tied to being able to accompany his daughter.

As early as July 4, James revealed that he had a serious conversation with Zhuri specifically about this matter.

"I pulled her aside and told her: Baby, I don't want you to hear this from someone else. Next year I won't be playing for the Lakers anymore; I'll go to another team and won't be able to stay home with you all the time. You don't have to give me an answer now; you can take your time, or write it down and tell me. I just want to know how you feel. You are incredibly important to me," James said at the carnival.

LeBron has always greatly valued the role of being a father. He grew up without a father's presence, so he vowed never to let his own children experience the same regret.

He once dreamed of being the first NBA player to play alongside his son. After sharing the court with Bronny in the 2024-25 season, reporters asked him where this ranks among his four championships, four MVPs, and other achievements.

He didn't hesitate: "Definitely number one. No other achievement can compare to this."

Staying in California, heading to the Bay Area to team up with Curry and join the Warriors is a win-win scenario for James. As for Zhuri, she completely has her father's heart in her hands.

During the Lakers' road trip to face the Warriors in February this year, he took his daughter on a solo father-daughter outing for the first time in his life. They visited Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and had dinner together. Before the game, Zhuri even went onto the court with him to warm up, made a fancy shot from behind the free-throw line, high-fived her dad, and even threw him an alley-oop pass.

After the Lakers' 129-101 blowout win on February 28, James talked about being a girl dad: "Having a daughter has softened my heart a lot. Having her is a unique happiness, a completely different kind of love."

Months later, James posted on social media a Father's Day card from Zhuri, in which his daughter praised him for being "steady, patient, and always there for me in every important moment." In the caption, James admitted he couldn't help but cry on the spot.

James hinted that next season may not be his last. Currently, his favored candidate teams are the Cavaliers, Heat, Warriors, 76ers, and Timberwolves.

But the Warriors remain the most likely choice, not only because he can team up with the greatest shooter in history and pursue glory with this modern dynasty.

At the carnival, he admitted: "Many people are urging me to make a decision quickly, but this isn't just about picking a team. I won't keep everyone waiting too long, but family factors weigh too heavily on me."

James wants to win his fifth championship, to play with compatible teammates, and to end his illustrious career meaningfully. There are countless factors to consider. But among all considerations, the top priority is his cherished 11-year-old daughter.
