Anthony Davis sets two major goals for the new season: playing all 82 regular-season games and leading the Wizards to 40+ wins.

On July 19, Beijing time, Anthony Davis set extremely high targets for the 2026-27 season, hopes that belong not only to the Washington Wizards but also to himself.

During the Fanatics Global Sports Fan Festival event, Davis stated in an interview with Wizards news account WizSkins that he plans to appear in all 82 regular-season contests. Since a major trade in 2025 sent him from the Lakers to the Mavericks, he has been plagued by injuries and has only played 29 games.

When asked how many games he expects to play in the upcoming season, Davis replied without hesitation: "82." Looking back at his 14-year career, Davis has never played a full 82-game season. His highest was 76 games in the 2023-24 season, with two other seasons at 75 games, and six seasons where he played fewer than 60 games.

The Wizards have reshaped their roster around Davis and point guard Trae Young, and Davis is confident about the team's prospects for the new season.

When a reporter asked him to predict the Wizards' win total for the season, Davis said bluntly: "We can get 40-plus wins."

As is well known, the lineup led by Davis and Trae Young will also feature this year's No. 1 draft pick, Cooper Flagg. Davis is certain that the rookie will win Rookie of the Year. "The answer is obvious," Davis said.

After being traded from the Mavericks to the Wizards at last season's trade deadline, Davis did not play a single game for Washington; Trae Young, acquired from the Hawks mid-season, only appeared in five games for the Wizards.

Furthermore, the Wizards franchise has not recorded a 50-win season since 1979, when the team was still called the Washington Bullets and had just made back-to-back NBA Finals appearances.

In summary: The entire Wizards organization hopes that all key players remain healthy to rewrite this embarrassing franchise history, and that health ledger must first be written by Davis. Davis confidently promised that he will make it happen.
