On February 22nd Beijing time, the Suns officially announced in a press release that their star player Devin Booker has been diagnosed with a right hip strain and will miss at least one week, with a follow-up evaluation planned.

Booker got injured during the game against the Spurs on Friday. The 29-year-old shooting guard exited to the locker room halfway through the first quarter, tried to come back near the end of the second, but was confirmed unable to play in the second half.
Booker has been battling injuries recently. Before the All-Star break, he missed 8 of 10 games due to a right ankle sprain. This new hip strain is expected to sideline him for at least four more games, bringing his total missed games this season to 16. This is crucial because Booker needs to play in at least 65 games to qualify for major individual postseason awards.
So far this season, in 44 games, Booker is averaging 24.7 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game, with shooting percentages of 45.4% from the field, 30.8% from three-point range, and 86.1% from the free-throw line, playing an average of 33.3 minutes per game.
When Booker plays this season, the Suns have a record of 27 wins and 17 losses; without this key player, the team stands at 5 wins and 7 losses.

The Suns also updated the status of Haywood-Hyland Smith’s injury. He recently signed a two-year contract with the Suns. The forward underwent knee surgery during the offseason and is making progress in recovery but will continue rehabilitation and be re-examined in 2 to 3 weeks. This aligns with previous reports from Suns reporter John Gambadoro — Hyland-Smith will need several more weeks before making his season debut with the Suns.
