On February 19th Beijing time, according to reporter Joe Bruno, Hornets star LaMelo Ball was involved in a car accident in downtown Charlotte. Witnesses claimed Ball exited a Hummer and entered a Lamborghini, seeming unharmed. Medical reports confirmed one person suffered minor injuries.

Local media reported the accident happened at the junction of Trade and Tryon streets, with a damaged vehicle stopped in the center of the intersection. Ball’s custom 2022 GMC Hummer was parked on the roadside, missing its front wheel.

Witnesses stated that a gray Kia was traveling east on Trade Street while Ball was driving the Hummer westbound on Trade. When attempting a left turn onto the one-way Tryon Street, the two vehicles collided. Witnesses saw Ball get out of the Hummer and get into a Lamborghini. He appeared unharmed when switching cars.

Both the Kia and the Hummer were towed away. Medical officials confirmed one person sustained minor injuries with no life-threatening conditions.
This is not the first time LaMelo Ball has been involved in a car-related incident. Previously, he and the Hornets were involved in a lawsuit in North Carolina... A woman claimed her 11-year-old son, who had wanted an autograph from the NBA star, was seriously injured.

On October 8, 2023, after the Hornets lost at home to the Boston Celtics, 11-year-old Joseph was waiting near the players’ tunnel hoping to meet LaMelo Ball up close.
However, Anjel’s mother, Tameka, said LaMelo did not stop to sign for the young fan but drove off, running over the child’s foot and causing a fracture.
Tameka stated that the injury was more than physical — her son developed depression after the incident. “He looked up to him as a hero and idol, but then he ended up getting his foot run over by him.”
