As anticipated, the Raptors have released Paul...
Before the trade deadline this year, Paul was sent by the Los Angeles Clippers to the Toronto Raptors in Canada as part of a three-team trade.

Soon after, Paul declared his formal retirement on his own social media, ending his long 21-year career as an NBA player.

Actually, Paul originally planned to retire after this season, but being sent home by the Clippers at the end of December last year ruined his final curtain call. That moment marked the end of a dignified retirement. Now, after being cut by the Raptors, he is understandably disheartened. Rather than continuing to endure humiliation, he chose to bow out gracefully.

Throughout the 25-26 season, although Paul was officially on two rosters, he only played for the Clippers, appearing in 16 games all off the bench. He averaged 14.3 minutes per game, scoring just 2.9 points, grabbing 1.8 rebounds, and dishing out 3.3 assists, with shooting percentages of 32.1%, 33.3%, and 50%. His energy tank was completely empty; forcing his career to continue would only be a struggle with no reward.

This legendary point guard, born on May 6, 1985, stands 1.83 meters tall with a 1.94-meter wingspan. Drafted 4th overall in the 2005 first round, he played 1370 regular-season games, averaging 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 2 steals per game, with shooting splits of 46.9%, 37%, and 87%. In 149 playoff games, he averaged 20 points, 4.9 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.9 steals, shooting 48.4%, 37.3%, and 85.4%.

Regarding Paul's trophy case, he has 1 All-Star MVP, 1 Rookie of the Year, 11 All-NBA selections, 9 All-Defensive Team honors, 5 assists titles, 6 steals titles, 12 All-Star appearances, 2 Olympic gold medals, and was named among the 75 greatest players. If anything is missing, it’s the championship ring — a prize he pursued his entire career but never attained.

Clearly, like many legends before him, Paul retires with the bittersweet title of the greatest player never to win a championship.
Wishing the veteran all the best as he shines brightly in the new chapter of his life.
