On February 13th Beijing time, as per the league’s official statement, Suns forward Dillon Brooks was handed a one-game suspension without pay due to reaching his 16th technical foul this season. He will lose $121,403 in salary, representing 1/174 of his $21,124,110 yearly income. The Suns will gain a 50% credit on the salary tax difference.

According to NBA regulations, when a player or coach accumulates 16 technical fouls during the regular season, they are automatically suspended for one game without pay; for every additional two technical fouls thereafter, another one-game unpaid suspension is imposed.
In Thursday’s game where the Suns lost 109-136 to the Thunder, Dillon received the technical foul that led to his suspension with 6 minutes and 37 seconds left in the second quarter. He will serve his suspension on February 20th during the Suns’ away game against the Spurs.
In a post-game interview, Dillon expressed frustration about the technical foul call. He mentioned that some referees think he is always “playing the victim.” He added, “If I’m not the victim, then I must be the villain—one has to be chosen.”
Other players with double-digit technical fouls this season include—
Luka Dončić of the Lakers (13 times), Isaiah Stewart of the Pistons (12 times), and Draymond Green of the Warriors (11 times).
Among them, Stewart is currently serving a seven-game suspension due to a recent altercation between the Pistons and the Hornets this week.
