On February 12th Beijing time, the NBA officially declared that Naz Reid from the Timberwolves and Mohamed Gueye from the Hawks were each fined $35,000 following an on-court confrontation during Tuesday’s game at the Hawks’ home venue.

In the opening sequence of the fourth quarter, Gueye committed a foul on Reid while defending and shoved him down. Reid, displeased, stood up and confronted Gueye; the two then pushed each other and, as the league report stated, “grabbed each other’s jerseys aggressively.”

Coaches and players from both teams quickly intervened, eventually calming the situation. Both players were assessed technical fouls and ejected from the game, with the Timberwolves winning 138-116 over the Hawks. Both have now been fined equally.

This $35,000 fine impacts Gueye more significantly: he is in the third year of a four-year contract with the Hawks, earning a minimum salary of $2,221,677 this season.
Meanwhile, Reid signed a five-year, $125 million contract during the offseason, making him one of the highest-paid free agents in 2025, with a salary of $21,551,724 this season.
Earlier, the NBA also released another major fine related to the four-player ejection during the Hornets vs. Pistons brawl—

Stuart was suspended for seven games for leaving the bench, provocatively engaging in the altercation, and fighting, with part of the suspension due to his history of unsportsmanlike conduct. Bridges and Diabaté received four-game suspensions for fighting and escalating the conflict. Duren was suspended for two games for instigating the dispute.
